This weekend I've mainly been working on modifying the dialogue system to make it more flexible, and adding some more triggers that people have suggested. Rather than add specific triggers for her thinking or him talking though, I'm going to add optional "styles" for the dialogue box, which will simply look different and ignore any mouth animation. Lines will default to the current speaking style unless you add an extra tag in the dialogue text file.
I also spent some time updating the tutorial for making dialogue mods, because it's fairly out of date now, and I've added a viewer for it in the actual game. I think it would be interesting to add a tool for creating dialogue files in game too, to help automate the process. Is that something people would find useful?

ReplyDeleteSounds interesting. Dialogue got swept to the side a while back, so its nice to see it getting attention again. Some dialogue commands I wanted to see were cry, and possibly "kiss dick" if you can make an animation for her to do that.

I am hoping for more shoe options and I think someone else posted about tights that stopped around the ankles or higher would be cool too. This way we could mix and match different lines or words that go together, and end up having tons of possible lines with a bit of creativity. Also, in-game adding text sounds like a really really good idea too. Keep up the great work!
Ignore the other people asking for cosmetic suggestions. Adding flexibility and the ability to have on-the-fly dialogue will assist your build down the road and make for better and easier customization by the fans; something which I think will benefit your creation better than extra shoes or whatever else. Different modes are always more exciting; giving the male the other arm to grip her head would allow for a much more exciting facefuck mode. Even better would be more desperate struggling, after all she is getting a big dick crammed down her throat. This could be dependent on the mood she is in. Puking would be a nice addition but as you've said that affects the particle system of the build and until thats gutted and reworked its not feasible, so, I understand why you haven't bothered as that sounds daunting. Especially to a flash neophyte as myself.

ReplyDeleteI don't think it's possible to generate new swf files (like audio mods use) from the game, so the editor will have to just be for plain dialogues. Any suggestions for ways to improve on audio modding would be helpful though.

I completely agree with the person complaining here. Though, it is not entirely a bad idea to complain. After such a long time, after creating this game, there appears to be an increase in complaints as well as the dislikefullness in them. He does have a couple of good points. The first point being Kona, is that there is a slight problem I feel that is growing in a few of us who feel that updating the people monitoring this site about what sort of stuff is to be in the following update coming out, is a tease. So I guess what I'm saying is, by updating your site without a newer version it creates irritability for a few people, because it comes off like a huge tease. And once people get the idea that your teasing them, then you get trolls and people start to lose respect. However, I still have respect for what your doing, it is true none the less, that your updates, that don't include newer versions of the game, are teases in one way. The second and last point that I agree (partially) with is that your future feature list isn't quite in line with your updates. I say partially because I know your improvising by reading the comments and then adjusting your priorities. The better your game gets the more troll will come haha.

ReplyDeleteCurrently when you set colors/clothing, you can't really see the changes because the UI hides basically the whole body.
Widescreen is really popular now, while the actual game scene could remain in 4:3 in its original form, making the UI fill in the 16:9/10 parts of the screen at the sides would allow a better view and easier setup handling with clothing/coloring.
Please consider this!

I'd have a question by the way...I downloaded some swf mod files on a SDT well known site but when I try to import them, nothing happens. The ones consisting in a full character/background customization work just fine, but a lot of others just don't do a thing... maybe they're just not working, but do you have a clue about what could happen there?

Dialogue is a great feature so nice to see you're doing some work to improve it. Making dialogues in-game would probably be handy, so I'm all for that.

ReplyDeleteGenerally speaking, the dialogue system needs a total revamp. If you use a test dialogue, some types always come up and some nearly never, total randomness is not always that great compared to some kind of scripted dialogue tree.

About clothes and stuff, will you update your modding template anytime soon? Since your all-import feature does not seem really near completion, a newer template would be a nice consolation.

ReplyDeleteHere´s my two cents: About 80% of the time spent playing the game you´re deepthroating her but that phase has the least variety in dialogue options, while other events that occur only once have their own lines. More options to diversify the dialogue during that phase would be really cool. My suggestion would be different "deep_throat" dialogue options depending on his pleasure so she´d say different lines the longer you deepthroat her.

I'd love to see more dialog options. Personally, I find that they can really improve the experience.
ReplyDeleteOne other thing I'd really like to see is a cel shading or flat color option. If you look at pictures of just about any cartoon character, their skin is only colored with two shades. One is their skin in direct light, and the other is their skin in shadow. This flat coloring is very simple, but is currently impossible to replicate in SDT.
Konashion, if you could build this kind of coloring into SDT it would allow for a much more accurate recreation of many cartoon characters than what can be accomplished right now. It would probably take some work, since you'd have to figure out where to place shadows (maybe allow for multiple shadow placements to represent light sources coming from different angles?) and perhaps would have to draw in lines to delineate important facial features. However, I feel that it would likely be simpler to implement and provide more value than a lot of other features or improvements that are currently in the pipeline, so I hope you give this suggestion consideration.

Is it actually going to happen or am I wasting my time checking every week just to find something I could easily of gone without. And now, a few suggestions/requests. Please keep in mind I don't know much about flash programming and the like, so hopefully what I'm requesting isn't too much work. ^^;
Have you ever considered adding a lolicon mode? I know some people would appreciate such an option. I am aware that it is possible to make the girl flat-chested, but her body is still that of an adult, which kind of breaks the illusion of it being a lolicon model.
Second (and I've seen a few people requesting this as well), more clothing options couldn't hurt. Perhaps a new shirt or two?
Lastly, I'd like to request fur. By fur, I do not mean pubic hair (though I'm not saying no to it either. :3). I mean fur like some nekos have. Maybe some cat paw gloves/shoes, a tail, cat nose, body fur, etc.?
Like I said, I'm not very knowledgeable on the subject of flash programming or anything related; I am but a simple player of the game.

ReplyDeleteI like the idea posted up near the top of the page, about the happy mood with angry eyes. But it shouldn't just be a dialogue command, it should be a selectable mood. That sort of mischievous look would go great with a lot of the dialogues I've made, and it wouldn't be too difficult to program in since it's just happy mood with the eyes changed, right?

2. I know you want to wait until every thing is done, but could you release a update to the mod files to start doing the clothing? I would love to be able to start on mods for his and her costumes. Even if it means reworking and changes later. I know there is loader out there that would allow me to do some of that, but I would rather not make it to complicated for others to load my swf files.

ReplyDeleteJust a thought for a configuration for him (didn't see this on the upcoming features page): volume, pulse length, delay, and total duration for the finale. Low volume, short pulse, negligible delay, high duration means a spray; high volume, long pulse, short delay, moderate duration is what it is right now (streams). Low volume, short pulse, high delay, high duration would give you something more akin to Pusooy's works, where the guy pulses periodically while continuing the efforts in between. Comfortable middle ground for everyone's taste can be found with these.

ReplyDeleteI'm loving the new updates. Hoping for more dialog triggered actions. We can change her hand position and mood as well as some facial actions, but more actions would be great. One very cool addition would be CHANGE_HIM. I'd envision using this on the restart trigger to make it a gang bang. Maybe randomize the skin color, cock size, and clothes to make the change stand out.

DeleteAnyway you can make putting voiced dialogue into the game easier is a top priority for me! I have access to a lot of game and anime voices that I would love to put in, but it all seems too complicated for me;(
ReplyDeleteIt's awesome that the game can be expanded with mods! It's too bad that it takes a copy of Flash (and a little knowledge of Flash) to do so. But that's just how things are - SDT is written in Flash, so we probably can't get around that.
DeleteHOWEVER, if you are able to provide a set of MP3 clips for the different dialog phrases, you can have somebody else bundle those up into a Flash file for you! In fact, there's a thread in the mod forum specifically for that!
So no excuses.
Great that you're expanding upon the dialogue system :) some suggestions that I would like:
ReplyDelete1) Limiting lines to certain moods, such as making a certain line only show up when she's in the angry mood. We can change her mood already, but having her mood actually affect her dialogue (as it is with your original dialogues) would make that function even more useful.
2) Dialogue commands for changing his hand positions, such as [HISHANDS_HOLD], just as we can do with her hands. Having a dialogue command to switch between "regular" and facefuck mode would be sweet too.
3) As you changed the "first throat" line to be displayed only once, it would be nice to have a new group to be displayed between first_throat and first_dt, maybe called "mid_throat" or something.
4) Being able to have (multiple) "qualifiers" for lines, such as number of "finishes", his pleasure level, her air/breath level, his hand position, her hand position, if she's been knocked out yet, or not, normal/facefuck mode etc.
5) It would be nice if the game would save her "record" breath level, and having it as a line qualifier, letting us have different lines not only for how long she's been held down, but also for when she's been held down for longer than previously. After she's been knocked unconscious it could count for how long she's been unconscious instead. I would love having this feature.
Oh, and a command to make her open her mouth and stick out her tounge would be nice!

ReplyDeleteI was wondering if you were PLANNING on drawing the shirt cuffs behind her back soon and if there was a long sleeved dress shirt to go with the shirt cuffs later on?
I'm sure it's been said somewhere, but personally, if I could pick one non-bondagey costume element to add, it would be a full length button-down shirt, ideally with options for how buttoned it is, and maybe a longer, more customizable tie. For school uniforms and the like.
